



ROSS HULL
Ross Hull is a Canadian broadcaster, meteorologist, and former actor best known to 1990s television audiences as Gary, the founder and leader of the Midnight Society on the cult Nickelodeon/YTV horror anthology series Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Appearing throughout the show's original run and later returning for a special revival appearance, Hull became one of the most recognizable faces of a generation of family-friendly horror television fans.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Hull began acting as a child and built a successful television career
throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. In addition to his memorable role on Are You Afraid of the
Dark?, he appeared in series such as Ready or Not and starred as Chris Sheppard on the popular
Canadian teen sitcom Student Bodies. His acting credits also include appearances in projects such
as Stargate Atlantis, further demonstrating his versatility as a performer.
After achieving success in entertainment, Hull transitioned into broadcasting, combining his passion for storytelling with science and journalism. He earned a degree in Radio and Television Arts from what is now Toronto Metropolitan University and pursued professional meteorology studies through Mississippi State University. He went on to become a weather presenter for The Weather Network before moving into television news.
Today, Hull is an established meteorologist with Global News, delivering forecasts and weather
analysis for multiple Canadian markets. Known for his clear communication style and on-air presence, he has successfully built a second career in broadcast journalism while remaining fondly remembered by fans of 1990s television. His unique journey—from fictional campfire storyteller to trusted weather expert—has made him a distinctive figure in Canadian media.
